...I like me some fluff, yes, but dear deity(ies) of your choice, not every relationship ends with a bang. Sometimes it just, well, fades out.
Can people maybe write a few relationships that aren't broken up by DEATH or ABUSE or CHEATING? Can we see amiable break-ups? A horde of small niggles adding up? Just a matter of incompatibility?
...Then again, probably not. Because all relationships must be TWU WUB or nothing at all, right?

I know this isn't really a rant, but I just thought I should apologize to all the people who commented on my last journal entry. I'm sure you all know which one I'm talking about. Anyways, I just wanted to say that I'm truly sorry about offending you all and I guess I shouldn't have blown up like that. It's just that, while reading that fic it touched a little bit of a sore spot for me since I've been cheated on and dumped for the "other woman" and I think I might still be in love with my ex, so seeing a fic condoning that behavior just pushed me over the edge. Again I'm sorry if I made any sweeping generalizations, I just was letting off steam. Anyways, since I'm a little overwhelmed about replying to all those comments on my last journal entry, I thought I'd address all the problems why I was even ranting about the fic in the first place. (You know only this time without blowing up so that I could make my rant valid.)
1. First of all the canon was DBZ and no the series is not about bashing religion or religion in general so I found it very out of context to keep mentioning it and bashing it over and over.(Don't the characters usually have something more important to think about? Like oh I don't know saving the world?)
2. The married couple was Goku and Chi-Chi and I just found it so OOC that Goku would even leave Chi-Chi, especially not for a Ultra Super Saiyan 5 speshul Sue.
3. Finally, when I left a review on the fic saying how OOC it was the author just jumped on me and said that she was writing the fic to show that marriage is horrible and every man deserves a mistress, and then she had the nerve to say to me that the only reason I didn't even like her fic was because I was a stupid Virgin Mary that needed to get laid.
4. Again, her spelling and grammar were terrible too, and I guess that response to me and the storyline of the fic just pushed me over the edge. Again I'm very sorry.
ETA:By the way, this doesn't mean that I'm changing my view on adultery/cheating. I still feel it is wrong and a sin if it is not consented with both partners. And I feel it's a sin not just because of my own past experience, but also because it's hurting one of the partners. And anything that hurts somebody else either physically or emotionally is a sin and terrible. And yes, just like you can have your opinions I can have mine, and mine say that the "other woman" usually gets a considerable amount of blame. The other man gets most of the blame of course, but if the woman finds out he's married/in a relationship or already knew when she got involved with him and doesn't/didn't care then she is the most to blame.

Naruto fanthing,
Yeah, I think we all know the fandom in-joke that Orochimaru's a pedophile. It's been pretty well done by now, although if written well I'm sure there would still be ways that you could make a good crack fic around it.
And yeah, I think we all already know the irl in-joke that the late Michael Jackson was a pedophile.
But you know, writing a fic in which Jackson is Oro's son and titling it something along the lines of (you'll have to forgive me; I don't remember it exactly) "Another Pedophile is Dead" is sort of not funny.
I mean, I've never been a Jackson fan but... in this case it really is too soon, you know? Using very stale jokes to laugh at somebody after they die is rather tacky imho. (And it hardly makes for good or funny fic, either.)

It's Thursday again, and time again for our fic meme.
Thank you to the anon who reminded me about the fic meme (I've been crazy busy IRL with a new job and a two-hour commute one way) and also gave me this week's prompt! Particular thanks go out to mixe , who's really been busting out the prompted fics. Rules:1. Post prompts in the comment section of this post. You can post as many as you like.2. Post replies to the prompts in the comments. The fic doesn't have to be very long. But if your fic IS long and doesn't fit in one comment (ie, longer than 2000 words or so) you can post it as a fic to the community or just make multiple comments. 3. If you've prompted a fic (or several), please try to do at least one reply in return!4. You can post prompts or replies as anonymous. (Unfortunately, if you're going to post your fic in a separate post, anonymous isn't an option unfortunately.) 5. Fic OR art is welcome.Any Marvel universe pairing is fine. (Including X-charas.) Got a really rare pairing? Try prompting it, you might be pleasantly surprised! (If it's *very* rare, I'd suggest posting a link or a reading list that will explain who they are.) This week's theme: COMING OUT. In honor of Rictor/Shatterstar. :) I would like to remind people, however, to please try to answer at least one prompt if you request one. Feel free to write a fic as well if you get the creative juices going, and post it in the comments even though there isn't a prompt for it. This meme will stay at the top of this comm until next Wednesday night, PST. GO! HAVE FUN! Spread the word!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet, although I suppose it's common knowledge by now! So I'm doing so, seeing as it's very relevant to this comm's interests:
( Spoiler, if you don't know already ) Thoughts?
From the author's note of a Torchwood fic:
This is NOT an AU fic. Yes, it has an original character, and yes it’s set in jack’s teen years. I have no idea how this fits in with the plot of torchwood and doctor who, so I'm just going to come out and say it, Jack is a teenager at school in the 21st century.
Definition of what exactly is Alternate Universe (AU) vary, but
teenage Jack Harkness in the 21st century? Uhm, I think that would qualify as AU. The fact that you don't know how to would fit in with the canon plot is a pretty good indicator of that. Unless something seriously unexpected is going to happen in the next two episodes of Children of Earth.
Curious though what this author thinks AU means.
ETA: Edited to get rid of typos.
One disclaimer before I start my rant: It's quite obvious that the good author uses her/his personal experience, knowledge and even hobbies to make the story more interesting, deep and complex. If done right and in a reasonable amount it's wonderful.
If I planned to write - for example - auror!Harry Potter crime/adventure story, I'd focus more on biology/physiology, linguistics, mountain hiking or methodology technicalities than on forensics or, say, embroidery techniques in 17th century Netherlands. I'd steer the plot to include some mountains, some biology and some scientific methodology, 'cause that's what I'm good at and I would know how that would work in favour of the story. That's what's important - the story, not my showing-off.
( But! )
Current mood: exasperated
I can accept a certain amount of OOC-ness and revisionism in my SPN fic because, well, you know what's totally OOC and revisionist? Wincest. And I'll totally read it anyway.
But having Sam say he hadn't really loved Jess and she'd just basically just been a warm body? Yeah, that crosses a line for me. Sam's desire to get revenge for Jess' death is sort of the catalyst for the entire series. Four years later and he still feels guilty about her death (c.f. When the Levee Breaks).
I don't know why this pisses me off so much, but it made me click the back button immediately.
Rating: R (more naughty language and such) Pairing: Wade/Bob Warnings: less humor/slightly more h/c. Also, I lied when I said no more little moose-abuse. Excerpt: “I’m going to die here,” he groaned for the eighth time that night, sliding off the tarp with a pitiable moan. The cave floor was cooler on his skin, but it was also wet – and not a pleasant, cooling spring mist wet; a dirty, if the wound wasn’t infected, it is now sort of wet. “I’m going to die here.” – that made nine.
“Your kids sound pretty gay.”

Rating/Warnings: definitely NC-17
Summary: This is the third installment in a series of dirty, porny smutfics all featuring different kinds of sex toys/accessories, beginning early in House and Wilson's relationship. In this one, Wilson starts to wonder exactly what he's gotten himself into - at the most inopportune moment ;)
Previous installments can be found here, but each can easily be read on its own.

Er. Hi.
I read Good Omens earlier this year...and then promptly went out and bought a copy, and haven't seen it since as I've insisted that everyone I know read it too. It went to Australia. In fact, it just got back from Australia. In fact, the friend who went to Australia hasn't given it back yet. But I digress. I come with icons!
Ten eleven, because I can't count, of them. All quotes. Okay, mostly quotes.
( The point is...the point I'm trying to make is...icons! )The post also includes Discworld, Lord of the Rings, and some random book/reading icons.

NOTES: Links to all chapters of the Distress Call universe can be found here.
A Night at the General Store
Dear Author,
Who is this Benjamin Parker fellow and why does Mrs. Lovett like him so much? By any chance, is he Peter Parker's uncle? I suppose that I shouldn't be so suspicious, though. I should just be glad that she isn't obsessed with Benjamin Barker anymore.
Love, Me
ETA: I wouldn't nitpick about this, since one could easily hear "b" as "p", but we have character filters now. Also, I thought it was funny.

First order of business, do we have a beta list, and if not, how about we assemble one eh?
Now for the fic. This is a culminations of tons of plot bunnies previously brought up during the Friday IRC and in comments here and there, ta-da;
Whatever Happened to the Messiah(s)? Author: hohaiyee / Mercurial Georgia / swing Rating: General (no graphic violence or sexual content, this does deal with apocalypse however) Warnings/Kinks/Spoilers: Angst, I hope it's not indulgent but it's tragic. Cable #15, Messiah War. Pairings/Characters: Stryfe/Deadpool (off screen), Nate/Wade, Cable/Deadpool Word Count: 1, 159 Praise and Criticism: Yes please. A/N: I read horoscopes but I will never sit down for a fortune-telling, just in case there are jinks you know? It's either inaccurate or it'll limit the possibilities. If I'm in a stable time loop I do not want to know. Summary: Deadpool says goodbye to Nate, and over eight hundred years of longing.
